Hi, I'm Allan Sicat. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, I'm 30 years old, and I'm a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, and I'm a Wildcat. I'm currently serving as a consultant to the Department of Defense, helping the Army reduce cost and improve their processes across different functions.

Why K-State?

I learned about Kansas State's program about two years into my military career and thought it was an excellent way to earn a graduate degree while working full time. For me, it was very important to select a school that had a great reputation. I believe in Kansas State University, not just in engineering, but they have a great sports program. I think name recognition is something that is very important when selecting a school.

Was the program flexible?

September 11 occurred and I found myself in Egypt on September 14, and so I had to take a semester off, and again the program had a lot of flexibility in the sense that it was okay to take a semester off. So if you can't complete it in one straight shot, the program is flexible enough to let you pick up from where you were and complete it.

How did you balance school, work, and home?

I set a certain amount of time outside of working hours, usually two hours a night; it wasn't even Monday through Friday. It was a few hours three days a week and then allocate sometime early Saturday morning or early Sunday morning. How were your interactions with other students?

There were folks from Kansas, there were folks from other states. I was from Virginia, and we were all working professionals. We worked well as a team. I didn't ever have an issue with any of my projects where people weren't pulling their weight.

Would you recommend K-State's Program?

I would recommend Kansas State to other working professionals. I think it's a great program, and I value the education that I received from the institution, and I think working professionals find value in it as well.
